Infección chagasica en donantes de sangre estado Zulia -Venezuela, 1980-1988
Abstract
Se revisaron 181.270 fichas de los archivos del Instituto Hematológico de Occidente, Edo. Zulia, Venezuela, procedentes de los diferentes Distritos con el fin de realizar un estudio sobre infección chagásica en donantes de sangre por un período de 9 años (1980 -1988). El método serológico utilizado fue la prueba de Machado-Guerreiro, obteniéndose 2829 casos positivos (1.56%).Al evaluar los resultados (afios 1980 -1988), se aprecia que los mayores porcentajes de Infección Chagásica se presentaron en los Distritos Baralt (10.16%), Sucre (4.56%) y Bolívar II (4.01%) y el año más afectado fue 1980 (19.44%). Nuestro trabajo señala la importancia que reviste la determinación de anticuerpos anti Trypanosoma cruzi en donantes de sangre y en esta forma controlar la posibilidad de transmisión transfusional.
