Effects of SUpport preparation on the perfonnance of the catalysts Ziegler-Natta based in TiCI4/MgCI2
Resumen
The properties of supported Ziegler-Natta catalysts depend mostly on the preparation of the support. Four kinds of Ziegler-Natta catalysts consisting of TIC4 supported on MgCh were prepared, differting mainly by the method used to prepare the support. One was prepared by ball-m1Iling and the others by recrystallization. For recrystallization the support was disolved in several solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, dodecyl and hexyl a1cohols. Subsequently the supports were impregned with TICk Catalyst activity was evaluated in ethylene polyrnerization with trietumalumminium as co-catalysts. The experimental results show that the catalyst properties are effected by the preparation method; the percentage of titanium supported on MgCh depends on the molar relation TI/Mg and the treatment applied to the support. It was observed that the activity ofa11 the catalysts decreased as the percentage of titanium increased. The replica phenomenon was observed In some catalysts, Indicating the existence of a polymer morphology control. depending on the catalyst's design.
