Digital preservation policy

Political Issues has a digital preservation policy to make backup copies of all its files in the short, medium and long term.

Short term

Backups are made periodically on an external SSD hard drive and in the cloud on the Dropbox service, which allows automatic backup of all the magazine's files.

Medium term

Backup copies of the integrity of the OJS system and the content of the magazine are made from the cPanel of the hosting service

Long term

The journal is stored in the institutional repository of the University of Zulia, Revicyhluz, and in the international repository Zenodo, a general purpose open access repository developed under the European OpenAIRE program and operated by CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research).

The content of the journal is automatically stored in the following digital preservation systems: The PKP Preservation Network, which provides free preservation services for any OJS journal that meets the basic criteria. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) that guarantees the journal a permanent and safe file. LOCKSS is an open source program developed by the Stanford University Library that enables libraries to curate selected web journals by regularly searching registered journals to collect newly published content and archive it.

CLOCKSS Open Journal Systems also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure a permanent and secure archive for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the open source software LOCKSS developed at the Stanford University Library, which enables libraries to curate select web journals by regularly checking registered journal websites for recently published content and archiving it.
