Productivity of manufacturing SMES in Ecuador
Abstract
Economic growth has been closely related to technological advances and
particularly productivity, however business productivity in Ecuador has been little
addressed, although it is known that understanding the behavior of productivity can
boost economic growth in the long term of companies and, among them, small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are indispensable actors for the growth
of any economy, representing more than 90% of the companies in the world, their
participation being even higher in Latin America, with a 97%. From these perspectives,
this article arises whose objective is to analyze the productivity of manufacturing
SMEs in Ecuador. Methodologically, it was typified as documentary, under a pure
bibliographic design, making use of the different theories of authors worldwide and
specialized magazines, with which the information was structured for analysis. It is
concluded that if it is required to be competitive in international markets, it must be
productive, that is, efficient in the use of resources and effective in satisfying market
needs.
