Illustrious Zulianos of URBE: Preserving historical memory as a pillar of cultural identity
Abstract
The article examines historical memory as a fundamental tool for constructing cultural and social identity, using the "Ilustres Zulianos" section of the Universidad Privada Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín as a case study. A methodological approach based on documentary research and critical analysis is employed to recover and disseminate the legacy of key figures in Zulia's history. Historical memory, understood as a social construction influenced by cultural and political factors, enables communities to connect with their past and envision their future. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative showcased its adaptability by leveraging digital tools to promote regional identity. The applied methodology emphasizes systematicity, critical rigor, and creativity in content production, which strengthens the sense of belonging and fosters
meaningful learning about regional history.
