Peru a possible scenario for coinfection between COVID-19 and dengue

Abstract

Sr. Editor, la infección causada por SARS-Cov-2; llamada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud el 11 febrero del 2020 (1), enfermedad por COVID-19; ha sido declara actualmente como una pandemia por la OMS, afectando en este momento a 184 países, siendo una enfermedad emergente (2,3).
Actualmente, hay 1.324.907 infectados con 73.703 decesos en el mundo (3,4). En Latinoamérica han superado 24.544 casos (4); siendo Perú uno de los primeros países latinoamericanos en adoptar medidas de contención a esta pandemia (5,6). Sin embargo, habiendo transcurrido veintidós (22) días de aislamiento social obligatorio, hasta la fecha se ha registrado 2561 casos en el territorio peruano, con 92 decesos, 387 hospitalizados y 89 pacientes en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, con necesidad de ventilación mecánica (7).
