Anti-gliadin antibodies as a factor associated with lack of response to hepatitis B vaccination in adults
Abstract
Hepatitis B is a disease that affects 350 million people in the world. There are factors such as age, sex, overweight, immunological diseases, diabetes mellitus, among others, that prevent the correct immune response to the hepatitis B vaccination. The objective of the research was to analyze the presence of antigliadin antibodies and the lack of response to vaccination against hepatitis B in adults. The descriptive-non-experimental design methodology, prospective, cross-sectional and explanatory, included 235 selected adults without distinction of sex or ethnicity with a history of vaccination against hepatitis B virus in whose serum samples antibodies against hepatitis B virus surface antigen were determined. Statistical analysis was performed with the Graph Pad Prism 8.0® software. antibodies against hepatitis B virus surface antigen were present in 76% of the population studied. 35.5% had elevated antigliadin antibodies associated with a hyporesponsiveness to the hepatitis B virus vaccine. Factors such as body mass index and family history of type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus in the adults studied were significantly associated with the lack of immune response in non-responders
