Parliamentary Women Representation in Latin America. Easier said than done
Abstract
The fifth of the Sustainable Development Goals goes in search for equality amidst men and women. One of the most commonly used elements in this sense is the passing of gender equality quotas laws. Through this instrument, legislators try to increase the visibility and representation of women in public life. The main objective in this article is to analyse, through descriptive techniques, the quota representation in Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay to verify if they enhance the visibility of women in legislative houses of national parliaments in accordance with the goal SDGs
