System of resortic elastomers for fixing the secondary metal covers of the Rafael Urdaneta general bridge, Venezuela
Abstract
The objective of this research is to propose a system of spring elastomers for the fixing of the secondary metal joint covers of the General Rafael Urdaneta bridge, Venezuela. The research was ca-tegorized as projective with a quasi-experimental design, supported by the manipulation of a group of individuals to certain conditions or stimuli (inde-pendent variable), to observe the effects that are produced (dependent variable). The population was made up of 168 secondary joint covers that the bridge over Lake Maracaibo has, selecting a representative sample of six for the elastomer sys-tem tests, forming a T sample for relational groups with moments before (current system) and after (system proposed) highlighting that it is a system made up of a fastening element with its respective retention, plus the elastic element in order to pro-duce damping with the vehicular passage through these joints. As a result, the implantation of six elas-tomeric elements of the polyurethane type 9500 were obtained, which presented a hardness of 95A shore with torsional resistance of 280-340 Nm and compaction with support of up to 10 tons of load, to become a new alternative solution to the spring sys-tem currently installed in this system of secondary metal joint covers of the General Rafael Urdaneta bridge, Venezuela.
