ESTADO NUTRICIONAL EN NIÑOS CON DISCAPACIDAD NEUROLÓGICA
Abstract
The objective was to relate nutritional status with neurological disability in children from 2 to 10 years of age attended in the operative units of district 13D04, Manabí, Ecuador. Methodologically, the sample consisted of children of both genders with neurological disability, to whom the nutritional status indicator and disability were measured, and the percentage distribution in tables was applied. In the results, the highest percentage of participants were female, aged between 7 and 10 years, from rural areas, with their own home, educational level of the caregiver, mostly illiterate, economically dependent on occasional activities, with compromised access to technology and basic services. The physical disabilities, in order of frequency, were: intellectual, physical, mental and hearing. The predominant nutritional status was normal, followed by malnutrition and excess. No significant relationship was demonstrated between the variables malnutrition and neurological disability.
