Preventive Treatment of High Blood Pressure in Adults
Abstract
Hypertensive crisis is a sudden rise in blood pressure that can cause damage to different organs and even death. In Latin America, 46% of people with hypertension are unaware of their condition and only 21% have it under control. In Ecuador, 1 in 5 people between 18 and 69 years of age have hypertension, of which 45% do not know it, and it is the main cause of death in the country; hypertensive crises are high due to unhealthy lifestyles. Objective. To demonstrate that preventive treatment can reduce complications in adult patients with arterial hypertension in the population of a community in Ecuador. Methodology. It is an experimental field study, with an observational, prospective, longitudinal design. Results of studies have shown that to reduce complications of arterial hypertension, it is necessary to minimize modifiable risk factors such as lifestyle, environmental factors and increase physical exercise at least one hour a day as therapy and healthy eating. Conclusion: The aim of reducing complications of this pathology is to increase care, social and family attention, improve lifestyle, promote medical care and control, increase emotional stability and self-esteem, as well as the participation of this group in the work environment.
