Abstract

Co-infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) increases the risk of HBV disease
progression. Hepatitis B affects 8-10% of people living with HIV due to the common mode of transmission. Active antiretroviral therapy against HIV in hepatitis B virus against primary hepatitis B virus infection, the findings show that active antiretroviral therapy against HIV protects against the onset of de novo HBV infection, with effectiveness and increased safety when using tenofovir. People with HIV at higher risk for HBV may need additional support or shorter course vaccination series to increase the rate of protective immunity against HBV.
