Artificial Intelligence for lesson planning: A focus based on ChatGPT assistance
Abstract
It is universally known that the teaching-learning process is a highly cognitively demanding task in which teachers must consider different factors. Hernández et al (2019), admit that the promises of Artificial Intelligence (AI) development in education are attractive. In this context, we assume that the implementation of AI can offer innovative solutions to optimize lesson planning. Consequently, reduce the time spent on it. For this reason, the objective is to Analyze the capacities of ChatGPT as an Artificial Intelligence tool to optimize the time invested in lesson planning and the quality of the resources and activities generated according to teachers´ criteria. For this purpose, a descriptive and quantitative study was formulated. After that, a survey was taken of a group of teachers, and the results were analyzed. In this regard, the ChatGPT model generated lesson plans for the English and Language Arts subject. As a result, the teachers found that the lesson planning developed was simple and easy to adapt. It is conclusive that the capacity of ChatGPT to optimize the time during lesson planning and the quality of the activities generated is optimal and contributes to the reduction of planning time
