The Journal of the University of Zulia is a refereed scientific publication, of a multidisciplinary nature, founded on May 31, 1947. The journal is part of the historical heritage of the University of Zulia, which is why it is attached to the Free History Chair of the University of Zulia

Focus and scope

The Journal of University of Zulia is a Scientific publication for the dissemination of partial or definitive works by national and foreign researchers and / or research teams. The journal is open access and has a multidisciplinary character, which is why its theme is divided into three main axes: a. agricultural sciences, engineering and technology; b. exact, natural and health sciences. c) social sciences and art. Its publication is quarterly. Each number, of the three of the year, corresponds to one of the three thematic axes.

Objective

Disseminate unpublished scientific research findings in a wide range of disciplines, starting from a selection process carried out by academic peers in conjunction with the Editorial Committee, in order to make visible the knowledge generated in various national and international institutions.

Mission

Contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, through an open access system where definitive or partial results of research are published, which are previously submitted to arbitration following ethical, scientific and managerial parameters.

Vision

Give continuity to the orientation defined in 1947 by our founder, Dr. Jesús Enrique Lossada, who conceived the Journal of the University of Zulia as a plural, scientific publication and vehicle of ideas, aimed at uniting the university with its social environment, both national as international.

 

License and open access policy

The Revista de la Universidad del Zulia  declares that it recognizes the rights of the authors of the original works published in it; these works are the intellectual property of their authors. The authors preserve their copyright and share without commercial purposes, according to the license adopted by the journal.

The Revista de la Universidad del Zulia provides open access to its content, since offering the public free access to published articles helps a greater global exchange of knowledge. Through this platform, the different volumes and numbers published under open access standards can be viewed and downloaded.

Processing cost

-THE JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZULIA, is financed with public resources and adheres to the open access philosophy; therefore, its content is not for commercial purposes, which is guaranteed at all times by the director, the coordinator-editor and the editorial committee.

 

Income sources and advertising policy

The Journal of the University of Zulia is academic and institutional with free and open access where any user can read the full text of the articles, print them, download them, copy them, link them, distribute them and use their contents for other purposes. Under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

It has exclusively academic, didactic and scientific purposes. It does not include commercial advertising, paid or not, whether direct or indirect from public or private organizations and institutions.


Knowledge areas

THE  JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZULIA publishes scientific articles in all areas of knowledge, following a disciplinary scheme periodically (quarterly):

January-April: Agricultural Sciences, Engineering and Technology

May-August: Exact, Natural and Health Sciences

September-December: Social Sciences and Arts

 

Anti-plagiarism policies

 The authors must guarantee that the articles are the product of their original work as researchers and that the data presented have been obtained in an ethical manner, for which they must send the letter of originality and guarantee that they do not infringe copyright.

Plagiarism behaviors in any of its expressions or modalities that violate intellectual property rights, individually or collectively, are not admitted by the JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZULIA. In this sense, the articles are evaluated with the Plag specialized duplicate content detection software. When articles are received with more than 20% similarity to other research works, we go to the authors to reformulate them. We discard articles with more than that percentage. Any detected case will imply the rejection of the article, which will be notified to the authors or author of the article, accompanied by a detailed report, and they will not be given the possibility of submitting another manuscript in the journal. When required, the journal will publish the corresponding and necessary clarifications and corrections

 

Digital Preservation Policy

In order to preserve and protect its content in digital format, the Revista de la Universidad del Zulia uses high-volume external storage devices and cloud storage systems as a short-term measure.

 

Permanent digital identifiers

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

It is the fingerprint of scientific documents. Its permanent and unique character is a guarantee for researchers. It is mainly used to locate those documents that are in digital format and allows their location even if there is a change in the original URL. In other words, the DOI increases the visibility, access and citation of scientific publications, crosses and improves communication between repertoires, databases and computer systems, and ensures the intellectual property of works. The Journal of the University of Zulia has implemented its use since 2020 in order to guarantee digital access to its publications.

 

ORCID ID

The Journal of the University of Zulia from the year 2020 in order to maintain a standard in editorial management and the visibility of the authors, requires that the articles be linked to their ORCID profiles. ORCID provides a permanent digital identifier (an ORCID ID) that is owned and controlled by the author and distinguishes it from any other researcher.
