Walking along the Surroundings of the Being with Gianni Vattimo

Abstract

Gianni Vattimo’s last book, Surroundings of the Being, poses the challenge of a new manifest within a philosophy of the praxis understood as “ontology of actuality” and puts forward the chance to renew a “non-religious” Christianity. 

In a context in which critical thought is more open to listening to religion, the essays collected in Surroundings of the Being reflect Vattimo’s nihilist hermeneutics’ most elaborate results since the release of Ecce Comu and are an invaluable contribution in order to think more radically about the emancipating praxis in the complex world that we inhabit.
