Stanley Cavell and the Medium of Film’s Skeptical Circle

Abstract
Following that revealed in The World Viewed, this article aims to highlight the links between Stanley Cavell’s study of the medium of film and the particular approach to the skeptical problem that the philosopher displays in other titles. On our journey, both his thoughts on the ontological status of the cinematographic image and his position on the ever-provisional recovery from skepticism will be compared to that which other authors who have been traditionally linked to Cavell (such as Bazin or Panofsky) maintain.
